The Beginning
John Goerlich acquires patent rights to the Taylor Loud Speaker muffler and founds the Associated Parts (traditional distribution channel) and Goerlich (retail distribution accounts) companies. AP’s roots reach back to the very beginnings of the automotive exhaust system business.

ONE FOR ALL
AP/Goerlich introduces a universal muffler

1939
A NEW FOCUS
AP/Goerlich sells the heater portion of the business as the OEs make heaters standard equipment. Goerlich focuses on the muffler business which has a better replacement business.

1939-1945
“VICTORY PIPE” TO WIN IT ALL
During World War II, AP/Goerlich produces quick-couple thin-wall steel pipe, known as “Victory Pipe” to transport fluids during the war. AP/Goerlich is awarded the Defense Department’s coveted “E” award.

WINNER, WINNER!
AP/Goerlich purchases Belond Headers and its “Belond Special” Indy car wins the Indianapolis 500 the next 2 years

INTO THE HALL OF FAME
John Goerlich is inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame

EXPANDING & GROWING
In 1990, the Proimos family founds Aristo as a niche manufacturer of catalytic converter catalysts.
Launches CATCO brand and begins manufacturing catalytic converters.

1998
A NEW PROCESS
Proimos family acquires North American aftermarket division from APPI (‘AP’). Creates synergies by adding catalytic converters to AP’s exhaust product line creating a complete undercar exhaust program.

2011
BRANCHING OUT
AP acquires ANSA – exhaust, mufflers, tips, and accessories for cars and trucks as well as Silverline for trucks and sports compact systems for cars.

2013
ACQUIRING MAREMONT
AP acquires Maremont – full range of mufflers, catalytic converters, performance exhaust pipes and accessory products.

2015
ACQUIRING EASTERN CATALYTIC
AP acquires Eastern Catalytic – range of catalytic converters including ECO, manifold, universal, direct-fit, CARB, performance and diesel as well as related pipes and components.

2017
ACQUIRING DURAFIT
AP acquires the DuraFit brand. DuraFit is an industry-leading brand of OEM replacement Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) and Diesel Oxidation Catalysts (DOCs).

REACQUIRING
APACE Holdings, led by Vange Proimos, reacquires AP Emissions Technologies.
